Jupiter's Red Spot

The spacecraft, Juno, has given us the most detailed photographs ever of Jupiter's Great Red Spot. This is no still hot spot but a swirling mass of gasses. The Great Red Spot is a storm that has been raging for at least 300 years when it was first glimpsed by astronomers. Here are some other features of this impressive planet which astrologers call, The Great Benefic.

  • Jupiter is 11 times wider than Earth and 300 times more massive
  • It takes 12 Earth years to orbit the Sun; a 'day' is 10 hours long
  • In composition it resembles a star; it's mostly hydrogen and helium

I had an interesting question arrive in my in-tray this week. “When Britain officially leaves the EU, will it have a new chart? And since this is likely to be in the spring of 2019, will that make the UK an Aries country?”The moment Great Britain leaves the EU will be a historic moment and it will make a huge difference to the country and its people.

However, the chart of that moment will become another lens through which to view the changing fortunes of Britain: it won’t eradicate the 1066 horoscope (the coronation of King William I) or the 1801 chart (the unification of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland). And for the record, the 1066 chart, which is the one I prefer, has Aries rising, and the Ascendant of a chart represents the persona.

Thus, Britain already resonates with this assertive sign.We cannot at this stage be sure when the divorce between Britain and the EU will be finalized, but if this does indeed happen when the Sun is in Aries, the Great British Bulldog will be restored to its former glory, not diminished by its single status.
